While playing in the sand area at Cuesta park the other day Evan had an epiphany of putting a sand box in our backyard. I love how he asked pricey it was first and it was funny his concept of how much things cost relatively.
Evan: How do you make sand?
Me: Probably by grinding small rocks against each other.
Evan: Is it very expensive?
Me: No, sand is cheap.
Evan: Can we build a sand box in our backyard then?
Me: that's a possibility. Why don't you ask dad when we get home. He will need to use some wood to build the edges of the sand box first. Filling it with sand is the easy part.
(Evan looking very excited)
Me: Even though sand box is easy to make, the reason we don't have one is because we don't like having sand inside the house. It gets the house dirty and is hard to clean.
Evan things for a bit and exclaims: "That's easy mom, just put a swimming pool in the backyard too! Then we can wash our hands and feet before coming into the house!"
