Fall Piano Recital

For Evan's fall piano recital, he played 2 pieces: "Our Detective Agency" and "Storms on Saturn". This is Evan's 3rd recital since start lessons with Ms.Noguchi at CSMA. He is getting more confident, and very much enjoys being on stage!

Artwork

Evan's artwork around the theme of protecting wildlife - "owl in a forest fire", was selected for display in the BCS office. Nice work Evan!

Back to School

For "back to school night", Evan created a scavenger hunt for James and I with a whopping 24 items on it! I almost didn't get them all if it weren't for a fellow parent who gave me a hint about "James and the Giant Peach" book in their daughter's desk!

Welcome to Evan World

An interesting conversation while brushing the boys' teeth today:

Evan: Welcome to Evan world!
me: What's in Evan world?
Evan: No showers, no pickles, no cucumber, no almonds... no apples, but lots of apple pie!
Nathan: How can you have apple pie without apples?
...
me: What about books? Any books in Evan world?
Evan: There are books but you don't have to read them. They read themselves!

Piano Recital #2

Evan came a long way since starting piano lessons with Ms.Noguchi almost a year ago. We were all very proud of him during his end of year recital. Special guests of honor were Nana & Pops visiting from New Zealand, and Wai-gong Wai-po of course.

Evan played his 3 pieces very calmly, and in my (biased) opinion better than most of his practices. The most difficult thing for Evan is controlling the tempo and not playing too fast. He handled that beautifully.

His 3 songs were:

• Rhino in the Mud
• Hedwig's Theme
• Green Frog Hop

Chess

Evan's second chess tournament! Evan though Evan had several tough losses, he's more motivated to learn chess than ever, and can't wait to go to his next tournament next month.  He continues to attend chess club every Friday night. Of all his activities, he ranks chess as his favorite.

Piano lessons

Evan awaiting his weekly Piano lesson with Ms.Noguchi. He really enjoys piano and often practices more than the recommended 15 minutes a day. Lately he has been very interested in learning Harry Potter theme song.
