Figgie End of Year Celebration

As we learned from the adorable paper invitation, scavenger hunt was the theme for Evan's big graduation celebration from pre-school!  Days leading to the event Evan was working feverishly on on making more leaves to help transform the school into a forest...

The celebration was on a Thursday evening.  The families all started in the Jujube room where we got a chance to read the back story for the scavenger hunt.

Evan and the other Fig children joined us shortly and received a map with details of their mission (find wand and "treasure" puzzle piece).

We walked by Evan's classroom...
through the hallway which by now were transformed into a forest with trees and vines all around.

Outside near the "pond" where all the frogs live...

was where Evan found his wand!  The "wands" were branches that the children had picked themselves during a neighborhood walk weeks before.  (Evan had missed the walk but his friends kindly brought back extra wands for him to choose from.)

The puzzle pieces together formed a giant jigsaw puzzle of all self portraits of the Figgie 2014 class.

Afterwards families gathered for a picnic.  The hand stamped napkins children helped make was a nice reminder of Nathan's graduating class two years ago.

Evan went straight to dessert:

After a short ceremony the children were presented with their graduation gifts from the teachers.  It contained a custom t-shirt commemorating the 4 imaginary "block friends" that was the inspiration behind many Fig stories and events...

and to our surprise a hand painted block figure representing each child!  I love how Evan's figurine had on a train shirt and his favorite baggy blue striped pants, which happened to be exactly what Evan wore that day :)  Figgie teachers really knew him well!
